A pair of Georgian solid oak dining chairs stands ready for daily use around a dining table or in a hallway. The timber displays a dark brown polished finish with natural grain variations and visible knots across the surfaces. Each piece features two flat horizontal back slats, a solid wood seat, and square tapered legs joined to the frame with pegged joinery. The upright supports end in plain flat tops without carved finials or decoration. Overall dimensions measure 88 cm high, 40 cm wide, and 45 cm deep, with a seat height of 44 cm. Solid construction ensures that these chairs remain completely stable for regular seating without any looseness in the joints. The rustic farmhouse aesthetic suits traditional kitchen spaces, country cottages, or dining rooms styled with natural wood furniture. Each chair provides a firm wooden base for seating guests or family members during meals.

FAQs

Georgian oak furniture typically spans the 18th century, characterised by sturdy timber construction, functional provincial craftsmanship, and simple geometric forms designed for country residences.

These chairs were built using solid native oak, featuring hand-cut mortise and tenon joints usually secured with wooden pegs rather than metal fixings.

Authentic pieces feature hand-hewn surface marks, subtle irregularities in the grain, pegged joinery, natural shrinkage across solid timber panels, and a rich patina developed over centuries.

Pair these understated oak chairs with a contemporary dining table or position them as accent side chairs in an entryway to create texture and contrast against clean modern decor.

Apply a high-quality natural beeswax polish periodically to preserve the original patina, keep the chairs clear of direct heat radiators, and wipe away moisture immediately.
