A George II pier mirror is an 18th-century wall mirror produced in Britain during the reign of King George II (17271760), designed specifically to hang on the wall space or pier between two windows.

Craftsmen carved the structural frame from timber, applied layers of gesso (a mixture of chalk and glue size) to smooth the surface and carve low-relief details, and finished the frame by applying thin sheets of gold leaf over a bole base.

Authentic pieces feature architectural pediments such as swan-neck or broken pediments, low-relief carved gesso work, hand-cut glass with mercury silvering, and evidence of historical wear or oxidisation on the gilded surface.
