FAQs

Edwardian furniture, produced between 1901 and 1910, typically features lighter proportions, simpler lines than Victorian pieces, and often incorporates revived motifs from Georgian, Sheraton, and Chippendale designs.

Makers of this era frequently utilized timbers such as beech, oak, walnut, and mahogany, often pairing solid wood frames with decorative elements like pyrography, hand-carved details, and upholstered or leather inserts.

Authenticity is determined by examining traditional joinery methods such as mortise and tenon joints, hand-turned components, period-appropriate timber ageing, and subtle tool marks consistent with early 20th-century workshop production.

These pieces function effectively as accent seating in living spaces or bedrooms, providing a historic contrast when paired against minimalist or modern decor schemes.

Maintenance requires regular dusting with a soft, dry cloth and periodic application of traditional beeswax to nourish the wood, avoiding direct sunlight and moisture to prevent timber degradation.
