Robert Belcher Antiques has dated this piece to the 1860s.
The gold is almost perfect in condition, and the only indication of the base metal is from the attached smaller ring, which shows slight wear with white metal showing, which would indicate to me that the box is made from silver.

The enamelled flowers have an engraved garland wreath surrounding them, part of which is alternatively in silver and gold.
The back of the patch box is also beautifully decorated with cast stems of berries and leaves.

The box hinges open to reveal a gilt interior for storing the beauty patches and a fitted bevelled mirror to aid in their positioning.
This is a lovely quality, rare piece in super condition.
