Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in France during the late 18th century, the cheval mirrornamed after the French word for horse due to its four-legged framebecame a staple of elite dressing rooms before gaining widespread popularity in Britain during the Victorian and Edwardian periods.

Edwardian mirrors were typically crafted from solid hardwoods and veneers such as walnut, mahogany, and satinwood, featuring brass pivot hardware and silvered glass plates with bevelled edges.

Authentic pieces often exhibit period characteristics such as hand-cut bevelled mirror plates showing minor oxidisation, traditional joined wood construction rather than modern fixings, and period-appropriate brass hardware.

Position the mirror in a bedroom or dressing area to maximise natural light and create a sense of depth, allowing its traditional wooden tones to contrast against neutral or painted walls.

Dust the wooden frame regularly with a dry, soft cloth and clean the glass using a microfiber cloth and a mild glass cleaner sprayed onto the cloth rather than directly onto the glass to prevent moisture seeping behind the silvering.
