Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the Victorian era, parlor games were a popular form of evening entertainment, leading to the creation of specialised wooden boxes designed to store playing cards, counters, and dice safely when not in use.

These boxes were typically crafted from dense hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, or rosewood, often featuring fitted interiors lined with silk, velvet, or watered moire fabric, alongside brass hinges and mother-of-pearl escutcheons.

Authenticity is usually determined by construction methods such as hand-cut dovetail joints, period-appropriate brass hardware, natural ageing of the wood grain, and original fabric linings rather than modern synthetic glues or machine-cut screws.

An antique card box can be placed on a coffee table, bookshelf, or desk as a textural decorative object that also offers concealed storage for small items.

Preserve wooden boxes by keeping them out of direct sunlight and away from rapid humidity changes, occasionally applying microcrystalline wax to nourish the wood without damaging the historic finish.
