An outstanding antique 19th-century oak armchair, rich in character and historical significance.
Crafted from solid oak, the chair is of very good quality and stands firmly on square legs united by a cross stretcher, ensuring strength and durability. The entire frame is beautifully carved, showcasing skilled craftsmanship typical of the period.
The focal point of the piece is the detailed carving to the top of the backrest, depicting the Lion of Lucerne—a famous monument in Switzerland commemorating the Swiss Guards who died in 1792 during the French Revolution. Beneath the lion is the engraving ''MDCCXCII,'' the Roman numerals for the year 1792, further anchoring this chair in a meaningful historical context.
The oak has developed a gorgeous patina over time, with rich grain and warm tones that highlight the age and beauty of the wood.
In great condition, this chair is more than just a functional seat—it is a piece of history and a striking decorative statement for any a
...ntique or period-inspired interior.
