Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Emerging in the mid-19th century, Victorian Gothic Revival furniture drew inspiration from medieval architectural elements, incorporating pointed arches, heavy relief carvings, and naturalistic motifs into domestic seating and cabinetry.

These chairs were predominantly crafted from solid dark oak or walnut, featuring intricate hand-carved details depicting flora, fauna, or hunting hounds, paired with durable woven tapestry upholstery.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit evidence of hand-tooling on the carved elements, traditional mortise and tenon joinery, historical oxidation on the timber, and occasionally carved date stamps or maker marks.

A carved oak chair functions as a singular statement piece in an entrance hall, study, or living room corner, providing visual contrast against neutral walls and minimalist contemporary furnishings.

Keep the timber clear of direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent wood shrinkage. Dust intricate carved areas regularly with a soft bristle brush and apply natural beeswax polish annually to protect the surface finish.
