An early 18th century pair of side chairs, in the Queen Anne style, circa 1720, George I period. These handsome chairs constructed in excellent very early, solid mahogany and upholstered in silk fabric. Featuring a solid vasiform splat back, top rail with delicate curved scrolled crest. Drop in upholstered seats, recently reupholstered in the traditional manner, covered with Gainsborough* silk damask. Broad apron seat rails. Raised on cabriole front legs with carved scrolling on offset pad feet, splayed oval rear legs supported by turned stretchers.
A wonderful pair of early chairs, very rare and of excellent quality, beautifully presented. In very good condition and ready for use.

Condition:
Please see the pictures for details of the items condition. - These chairs are in a very good condition commensurate with their age. Some old marks and blemishes, well polished in. Never French polished. Couple of high quality sympathetic repairs, including one corner of one of the seat rails, and an outside part of the carved knee block of one of the legs. There is an old fill on the back of one of the splats. No loose joints. Good colour throughout. Good polish and aged patina. Recently reupholstered in the traditional manner in Gainsborough silk fabric. Sensitive cleaned, and wax polished. Very well presented and ready for use. - As with all vintage & antique furniture there will be signs of use, marks, wear & tear, etc.
