FOUNDED BY THE EMINENT ORNITHOLOGIST JAMES MAURICE HARRISON IN SEVENOAKS, KENT IN 1930 WHOSE FAMILY FORTUNE ORIGINATED FROM THE ''J & C HARRISON SHIPPING LINE''. TODAY THE INSTITUTE IS AN INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNISED ORGANISATION WHICH WORKS IN BIODIVERSITY RESEARCH IN AFRICA AND ASIA.
