We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Georgian style encompasses furniture produced during the reigns of George I through George IV, characterised by classical proportions, symmetry, and the transition from walnut to mahogany as the primary timber.

Makers predominantly used dense hardwoods such as mahogany and oak for the structural frames, often incorporating supple leather for upholstered seats and brass tacks for edge detailing.

Authenticity is assessed by examining traditional joinery methods such as mortise and tenon, hand-cut dovetails, tool marks, patination on the wood, and historical wear patterns consistent with age.

This piece works effectively as a contrasting focal point in a contemporary study or paired with a minimalist desk to introduce warmth, texture, and historical gravitas to the room.

Maintain the wood by applying microcrystalline wax periodically, avoid placing the item in direct sunlight or near heat sources, and treat the leather with specialised conditioning balms to prevent cracking.
