Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A bergere chair serves as a sophisticated accent piece in contemporary spaces, pairing well with minimalist lighting, neutral textured rugs, and modern side tables to create a balanced contrast.

Protect antique cane from direct sunlight and excessive dryness by occasionally dampening the underside with a damp cloth to maintain flexibility, and clean the wood using a soft, dry cloth.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-woven cane work with regular tension, traditional joinery methods such as mortise and tenon, and age-appropriate oxidisation and wear on the timber.

Bergere chairs are traditionally constructed from solid hardwoods like mahogany, walnut, or beech, featuring woven cane panels along the back and sides for structural lightness and ventilation.

Regency furniture, spanning the late 18th to early 19th century, draws heavily from neoclassical Greco-Roman influences, featuring restrained ornamentation, clean lines, and dark timbers such as mahogany.
