Small, Chamfer Top, Regency Style Fusee Table Or Mantel Clock. circa 1840.

A very pretty little timepiece.
 
The 8 day duration, chain fusee movement with Anchor Recoil escapement, shouldered plates and pendulum locking bracket for transit.
 
Behind only a 4 3/4'' diameter, bowed and painted metal dial with Roman hour numerals set within an outer divided minute ring. The centre bears a signature of ''COWLES, WINDSOR'' which is most probably the retailer. Having matching split and crossed ''open moon'' blued steel hands and set within a brass ring frame. The dial is covered with a cast brass, hinged and locking bezel with a high dome, snapped-in glass.
 
Contained in an ebonised case with a brass inlaid figured mahogany front. The chamfer top sits above a reeded frieze and is surmounted with a cast brass, pineapple finial. The figured mahogany front is inlaid with brass and flanked by brass inlaid ebonised mouldings.
