Very unusual small
STRIKING
Mahogany
BRACKET CLOCK
Signed W.Clark, London.
C.1810 – 1820
The unusual dome top edged in ebony, having a design
(I can only guess at) of a key shape, issuing
foliate fronds, over further very fine inlaid ebony design.
The stepped base having sharply executed, reeded band
supported by barrel feet.
The sides bordered with ebony lines, cornered with
brass clover leaf & ebony dots. Over a conforming reeded
band & drum feet. The back door with brass sound fret.
The painted iron dial with Roman numerals & pierced
blued hands.
The 8 day twin fuse striking movement, having five knopped
pillars and very thick plates. The back cock matching the engraved
border and supporting brackets. The London pendulum
with matching engraving to the bob.
This clock has a restrained quality to it,
not unlike a Vulliamy.
