Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

FAQs

Windsor chairs originated in England during the early 18th century, evolving from vernacular furniture traditions where spindles and legs were tenoned directly into a solid wooden seat.

Authentic pieces typically feature a combination of native timbers, utilising elm for the sculpted seats due to its resistance to splitting, ash or beech for the bentwood bows and spindles, and fruitwood or pine for the undercarriage.

Key indicators of age include hand-turned components with minor irregularities, wedge-tenon joinery where the legs pierce the seat, adze marks on the saddle seat, and natural wear patterns appropriate to the age of the timber.

These versatile seating options pair effectively with contemporary minimalist dining tables to introduce organic warmth, texture, and historical contrast to a modern scheme.

Maintain the timber by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and periodically applying a microcrystalline wax to nourish the grain, avoiding placement near direct heat sources or in fluctuating humidity.
