The harlequin set displays visible signs of age including surface wear and natural grain variation across the wood, along with tight structural joints that keep the pieces clean and tidy. FAQs

A Windsor lathback chair is a traditional style of country seating featuring flat, vertical wooden slats (laths) supporting a curved top rail, anchored directly into a solid wooden seat. Originating in eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Britain, these chairs were widely used in farmhouses and informal dining spaces.

These chairs were traditionally crafted using native British hardwoods, frequently combining elm for the solid contoured seat, beech for turned legs and stretchers, and ash or fruitwood for the steamed curved back rails.

Authentic antique examples feature hand-shaped seats with visible adze markings, wedged tenon joints visible through the top of the seat timber, natural wear on the turnings, and subtle variations in hand-carved details across a set.

Pair a set of wooden country chairs with a contemporary dining table made of concrete, steel, or stone to create a textural contrast within an open-plan kitchen or modern dining area.

Dust regularly with a dry lint-free cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish annually to nourish the timber and maintain the original surface finish without moisture buildup.
