Alpine furniture from the 18th century is characterised by utilitarian forms, regional construction methods, and local hardwoods designed to withstand harsh mountain climates.

These chairs were typically constructed using locally sourced solid hardwoods and conifers such as pine, spruce, or oak, often featuring pegged or wedged joinery.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-tool marks, period-appropriate joinery such as through-tenons, natural oxidisation, and wear patterns consistent with age and manual production.

A rustic antique chair can be used as a contrasting accent piece in a minimalist or contemporary room to introduce historical texture and organic warmth.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight, and periodically applying microcrystalline wax to nourish the historic timber.
