French Louis Xvi Style Giltwood Overmantel Wall Mirror

Description

A superb quality French Louis XVI style, Victorian period giltwood rectangular shaped antique overmantel wall mirror with central bevelled plate and beautifully etched bevelled marginal mirror plates to the frame.

The frame has applied gesso design of pierced scrolling floral leaf cresting to the top, beaded edge and gadroon style moulding with acanthus leaf detail finished with out set corners and scroll leaf design.

The frame retains its original gilding and the original mercury mirror plate is in very good condition with some slight foxing consistent with age (see pictures).
