FAQs

Occasional tables gained widespread popularity during the 18th and 19th centuries as versatile furniture pieces designed for specific minor uses, such as holding lamps, drinks, or books.

These tables are traditionally constructed from fine hardwoods like walnut, mahogany, or satinwood, frequently featuring intricate parquetry, marquetry, and cast brass gallery rails.

Authenticity is determined by examining joint construction methods, wood ageing characteristics, hand-cut dovetails, and the quality of the brass mounts and marquetry work.

They can be integrated as sophisticated bedside surfaces, plant stands, or paired beside a sofa to add warmth, texture, and functional surface area to a room.

Maintain the timber by keeping it out of direct sunlight, avoiding excessive moisture, and applying occasional natural wax to nourish the grain and protect the finish.
