Antique Oak Carved Chair with Crewel Work Seat

An early 19th century country made oak chair, which could perhaps be loosely described as 'Chippendale style’, with a beautifully carved back splat, and carved cabriole fore legs terminating in substantial ball and claw feet. It has a drop in seat upholstered in crewel work fabric from Coromandel Crewel. The design of the back splat is attractive and unusual, and the shape of the arm supports is rather pleasing.

Condition: Good condition through out with a nice colour and patina. There appears to be a split in one arm but it is stable. The chair is solid with minimal movement in the structure. The seat has been newly recovered.

The seat height is approximately 46cm
