Regency furniture, spanning roughly from 1811 to 1830, draws heavy inspiration from classical antiquity, featuring clean lines, restrained ornamentation, and often incorporating exotic veneers and brass mounts.

Cabinet makers typically used dense tropical hardwoods such as mahogany, frequently accented with contrasting inlay veneers like satinwood, ebony, or rosewood, alongside upholstered drop-in or stuffed seats.

Authenticity is determined by examining traditional joinery techniques, such as hand-cut tenons, timber shrinkage patterns, old hand-planed surfaces, and the natural oxidisation of the wood over time.

Pairing these historical pieces with a minimalist contemporary dining table creates a striking juxtaposition that highlights the craftsmanship of the antique seating while maintaining a fresh aesthetic.

Keep wooden surfaces away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber splitting, and clean periodically using a soft, dry cloth without applying modern silicone-based polishes.
