This is a fine quality antique English late 17th Century Derbyshire chair, constructed of solid oak, ideal for use as an occasional or side chair, boasting a stunning colour and patination, circa 1680, in excellent condition. This early vernacular oak chair, which is typical of chairs from the county of Derbyshire, England, by the triple Gothic arch pierced panel back, displays a stunning colour and original patination. The solid oak seat is bordered by a reed moulded seat frame, which supports turned legs at the front and block legs at the rear, united by four reed moulded stretchers, providing additional strength to the chair structure. Condition Report:

This is a fine quality antique English late 17th Century Derbyshire chair, constructed of solid oak, ideal for use as an occasional or side chair, boasting a stunning colour and patination, circa 1680, in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chair, back, seat arms and legs, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The acorn finials are later replacements, which is not surprising given the fragility of these finials and the age of chair. This oak chair has been cleaned and wax-polished in order to revive the stunning original colour and patination. It is a well-constructed and is ready to be used.
