Gillows Deep-buttoned Armchair

19th century
Description

A mid-nineteenth century iron-back armchair by Gillows, C.1860.

Raised on walnut fluted tapering forelegs and splayed rear legs, terminating in original Cope’s brass castors. Stamped ‘GILLOW’ twice to the rear legs.

Traditionally upholstered in a deep-buttoned orange velvet and calico seat, with a fitted floral chintz slip cover.

Structurally very good, cover with repairs, may require re-fitting.
