This suite of seven Regency dining chairs comprises two carvers and five single chairs, fashioned from pollard oak and elm with a warm brown timber finish. Each piece has a broad scroll crest rail with beaded decoration, acanthus-carved sides, and a lower foliate-carved splat supported on curved uprights. The two armchairs have scrolled arms on shaped uprights. All seven chairs are fitted with lift-out drop-in seats upholstered in a patterned tapestry fabric showing beige, brown, and green tones, set above moulded seat rails, sabre front legs, and outswept rear supports. The set exhibits a rich natural grain colour and patina across the wood. Measuring 87 cm high, 60 cm wide, and 45 cm deep, these dining chairs suit placement around a formal dining table in a traditional dining room or as occasional seating in a drawing room or study.

Regency dining chairs, dating from the early nineteenth century, are defined by classical Greco-Roman influences, sweeping curves, sabre legs, and decorative crest rails with carved splats or scrolls.

Cabinetmakers of the era utilised native and imported hardwoods including mahogany, rosewood, oak, and elm, frequently using highly figured veneers such as pollard oak for decorative panel backs.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery, subtle variations in timber grain, original patination, curved sabre front legs, and drop-in seat frames.

These chairs can be paired with modern minimalist dining tables or contemporary stone surfaces, using the warm timber tones and intricate carved profiles to add historical texture to a room.

Dust timber surfaces regularly with a soft cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish annually along the wood grain, keeping the furniture away from direct heat sources and sunlight.
