ANTIQUE #SA1007618

A George III Inlaid Mahogany Serpentine Fronted Knife Box.

£520    $657    €624
A very good example of a George III inlaid mahogany serpentine knife box with boxwood and ebony edge stringing and tulipwood edge banding to the lid. The knife box has a silver escutcheon and handle. The interior is original with an inlaid star under the lid and feather and line stringing throughout. There is hessian on the underside.

The knife box has a splendid colour and is in good overall condition There are a few slight shrinkage cracks to the veneers on the back edge of the sides and also to the back edge of the lid as shown. Similarly, there are a few very small, old chips to the cockbeading around the edge of the lid.

Please note that the key is missing.
