FAQs

Antique carved oak chairs often draw inspiration from historical periods such as the Jacobean, William and Mary, or Renaissance revival eras, characterised by heavy timber framing and elaborate hand-carved ornamentation.

These pieces are constructed primarily from solid European or British oak, utilizing traditional joinery such as mortise and tenon joints, often complemented by upholstered drop-in seats covered in textiles like velvet or tapestry.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the grain patterns, hand-cut joinery marks, natural patination of the wood, and signs of historical wear that indicate age rather than modern replication.

Pairing these chairs with a modern minimalist dining table creates a striking juxtaposition, blending historical craftsmanship with clean, contemporary lines for a balanced aesthetic.

Maintain the wood by applying microcrystalline wax periodically to nourish the oak, avoiding direct sunlight and excessive humidity fluctuations to protect both the timber and the upholstery.
