FAQs

Regency style spans the early 19th century in Britain, characterised by classical influences drawn from ancient Greece and Rome, often featuring clean lines, dark woods like mahogany, and restrained brass mounts.

These mirrors were predominantly constructed using solid mahogany or mahogany veneers over secondary softwoods, featuring hand-cast brass hardware, castors, and mercury or early silvered glass plates.

Authenticity is identified through hand-cut dovetails, traditional joinery, original backboards, old hand-silvered glass with minor foxing, and appropriate wear patterns on the wooden feet and castors.

Position the piece against a neutral wall to let the rich wood grain stand out, pairing it with minimalist modern furnishings to create a sophisticated contrast between old and new.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft cloth and apply quality beeswax periodically to nourish the wood. Avoid using modern chemical sprays and keep the mirror away from direct sunlight and moisture.
