The lid has a flat profile with a fine edge moulding above the body. It measures 14 cm wide by 11.5 cm high. This small tabletop container sits neatly on a sideboard top or chest of drawers in a living room, dining room, or hallway. It provides a decorative accent or a secure small storage solution for everyday items in a traditional interior setting.

FAQs

Introduced in the late 18th century during the Georgian era, oval tea caddies were designed to store precious tea leaves under lock and key when imported tea was a costly luxury item.

These vessels were primarily crafted from fine hardwoods such as mahogany, satinwood, and harewood, frequently decorated with delicate marquetry inlays and bone or ivory escutcheons.

Authentic period pieces typically feature hand-cut joints, natural wood patina from age, original foil or zinc linings, and period-appropriate bone or metal fittings.

Place the caddy as a decorative accent on a sideboard, mantelpiece, or bookshelf, pairing it alongside modern ceramics or books to create subtle visual contrast.

Dust regularly using a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish sparingly while keeping the object away from direct sunlight, radiators, and high humidity.
