Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian safe cabinet from 1900 combines a solid mahogany exterior with an iron interior structure, finished in dark brown tones. The upper section displays a dentil cornice moulding above an open cabinet door, housing an internal Cyrus Price and Company iron safe bearing a round brass maker plaque and a key in the lock. The lower section incorporates two cockbeaded drawers fitted with brass swan neck handles, all raised upon shaped bracket feet. Visible signs of age include paint wear on the dark red and black iron safe door. The cabinet measures 100 cm high, 54.5 cm wide, and 54 cm deep. Designed for a gentleman's library or study, this piece functions as a secure storage cabinet and side table combination. The enclosed iron safe secures valuables behind the outer wooden door, while the twin lower drawers hold everyday items and desk accessories. Placing the cabinet beside a leather armchair or desk integrates the historic security piece into a working home office space while keeping documents and small possessions out of sight.

A Victorian safe cabinet is a piece of security furniture designed to enclose a heavy iron or steel strongbox inside a wooden exterior, integrating secure storage into domestic or office environments.

These items typically combine heavy cast iron or steel internal safes with exterior carcases built from timbers such as mahogany or oak, accented with solid brass handles and plaque fittings.

Authentic examples feature maker plates from recognised safe manufacturers, heavy-gauge iron interiors, hand-dovetailed drawer construction, and original lever locking mechanisms with matching keys.

A safe cabinet functions as secure storage for valuables, a drinks cabinet, or an occasional side table within a home office, study, or living area.

Apply natural beeswax polish to the mahogany exterior to preserve the wood finish, while maintaining the iron mechanism and hinges with a light application of machine oil.
