An early nineteenth-century Irish Regency wall mirror, designed in an oval form with an ebonised and parcel silver-gilt frame. The construction incorporates applied faceted glass studs, an ebonised moulding, a silver-gilt border, and a mercury silvered mirror plate showing minor speckles, with original back-boards fitted to the verso. The frame displays a dark black and gold colour scheme, faceted glass cabochons on the outer and inner rings, and a cross-hatched silver-gilt central band. Measuring 80 cm high, 65 cm wide, and 10 cm deep, it provides a practical decorative accent for placement above a mantel in a sitting room or hallway. Suitable for period and traditional interior schemes, the piece hangs securely on a wall to reflect light and add architectural interest to an interior space. The combination of dark ebonised wood, reflective parcel-gilt details, and clear glass cabochons suits a formal living area, dining room, or bedroom. Hanging hardware allows straightforward installation on a principal wall above a fireplace mantelpiece, console table, or chest of drawers.

Originating in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, Irish Regency oval mirrors are characterised by moulded frames decorated with faceted glass studs or cabochons, often set against ebonised and gilt borders.

These frames typically feature carved wood with ebonised and parcel-gilt finishes, accented by inset leaded glass or crystal faceted studs and silvered glass mirror plates.

Authentic pieces feature hand-faceted glass cabochons fixed into recessed moulded frames, period silver-gilt wear, ebonised surfaces, and historical wooden backing boards.

Hang the mirror above a hallway console table or mantelpiece to serve as an architectural focal point that reflects natural light and adds historical depth to contemporary spaces.

Dust the frame regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth, avoid applying liquid polish near the glass studs or gilding, and clean the central glass plate using a slightly damp cloth.
