Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 1920 cocktail cabinet follows the Queen Anne Revival style. The timber finish shows a warm brown burr walnut veneer with polished surfaces, complemented by an ornate engraved brass strapwork escutcheon, carved walnut pediment, mouldings, and a shaped carved apron above shaped cabriole legs with pad feet. The construction measures 172 cm high, 95 cm wide, and 46 cm deep. Suitable for display and storage in a dining room, living room, or hallway today, this upright cabinet holds glassware and bottles behind its upper and lower doors. The upper section opens with its original key to reveal a mirrored back and base, glass shelves, a slide-out mirrored tray, and door-mounted shelves, while the lower section provides a storage compartment and drawer.

FAQs

Originating in the early twentieth century, this style incorporates early eighteenth-century design hallmarks such as cabriole legs, carved shell motifs, highly figured burr veneers, and decorative brass escutcheon plates onto dedicated beverage storage furniture.

These cabinets are typically constructed with solid hardwood frames overlaid with fine book-matched burr walnut veneers, accented by cast brass hardware, escutcheons, and hinges.

Key identification features include natural surface patination, hand-fitted joinery on interior drawers, authentic cast brass mountings with minor oxidisation, and distinct figure patterns inherent to genuine burr walnut veneer.

A walnut drinks cabinet can be positioned as a focal point against neutral walls, complemented by contemporary glassware or minimalist lighting to balance the rich grain and traditional woodwork.

Preserve the finish by applying natural beeswax sparingly along the grain, keeping the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and dusting metal mounts with a soft dry cloth.
