This set of eight Chippendale revival dining chairs originates from the nineteenth century, dating circa 1890, and comes from the prestigious firm of Warings. The pieces employ a warm brown mahogany timber with a patinated finish, complemented by drop-in needlepoint tapestry seat pads featuring floral patterns in green, pink, and ivory tones. Each chair displays a carved pierced back splat, cabriole legs, and ball and claw feet. The dining chairs measure 96 cm high, 57 cm wide, and 56 cm deep, while the carvers measure 102 cm high, 67 cm wide, and 64 cm deep, with seat heights of 48 cm and 49 cm respectively. Suiting an English country house dining setting, these chairs provide seating around a formal dining table for family meals and dinner parties. The sturdy construction exhibits tight joints without breaks, alongside minor marks and blemishes reflecting genuine age. The intricate openwork backsplats and textured textile upholstery bring traditional decorative appeal to interior spaces.

Chippendale Revival furniture, popular during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, recreates 18th-century designs characterised by ornate pierced splats, graceful cabriole legs, and distinctive carved motifs such as ball and claw feet.

Dense hardwoods like mahogany were predominantly utilised for their structural stability and rich grain, paired with hand-carved decorative elements and upholstered woven or tapestry seats.

Key indicators include crisp hand-carving on the back splat and leg knees, traditional mortise and tenon joinery, cabinetmaker marks or stamps on the inner frame, and natural patination across the timber finish.

Pairing dark mahogany chairs with a clean-lined wooden table or setting them against contemporary neutral backdrops creates an engaging balance between historical craft and modern design.

Dust the timber regularly with a dry soft cloth and apply beeswax polish periodically to protect the wood grain; keep upholstery away from direct heat sources and sun exposure to prevent timber splitting and textile fading.
