This pair of early 20th century French fauteuil armchairs dates from 1910 in the Louis XV style, constructed from solid mahogany. The frames are embellished with crisply carved floral cresting, scroll arms with padded armrests, a serpentine seat rail, and cabriole legs. The wood displays a rich brown tone and warm patina, complemented by olive green velvet upholstery edged with contrasting yellow piping. The upholstery is serviceable and shows slight signs of being tired through age, while the solid wood frames remain sturdy. Each armchair measures 96 cm high, 60 cm wide, and 51 cm deep, with a seat height of 45 cm. These armchairs provide comfortable seating suitable for placement in a formal living room, a bedroom, or a study. The classic French chateau design brings traditional elegance and practical seating capacity to a home interior today. They function well as matching accent chairs paired beside a fireplace, placed against a panelled wall, or used individually in separate reception spaces.

A fauteuil is a traditional French open-armchair style featuring an exposed carved timber frame, upholstered seat, backrest, and padded armrests.

These chairs are crafted with solid mahogany frames using mortise-and-tenon joinery, finished with detailed hand carving, and upholstered in woven fabrics such as velvet.

Louis XV style seating is identified by curvilinear silhouettes, serpentine seat rails, cabriole legs, open arms, and carved floral or foliage motifs.

Positioning a pair of carved fauteuils opposite a modern neutral sofa introduces texture, warmth, and structured historical contrast to a living space.

Vacuum the velvet upholstery gently using a soft brush attachment, and apply a natural beeswax polish to the carved timber frame to preserve the finish.
