This Edwardian display cabinet is made from mahogany with a warm brown finish. The piece has a shaped cornice positioned above a pair of glass doors with astragal glazing bars and a fabric-lined interior containing two fitted shelves. The sides are glazed, and the cabinet is raised on four square tapering legs joined by an undertier shelf. Surface wear includes rubbing to the edges and age-related marks, alongside fading and staining on the fabric lining, while the glass remains intact. The dimensions are 169.5 cm high, 100 cm wide, and 36 cm deep. In a contemporary home, this cabinet is placed in a living room, dining room, or hallway to store and display china, glassware, or decorative objects. The slender profile and glass panels suit traditional and country house interiors, providing a practical storage solution that keeps collections visible while protected behind glazed doors.

Edwardian display cabinets, dating from roughly 1901 to 1910, typically feature lighter timber frames, refined proportions, and mahogany construction, often incorporating astragal glazed doors and shaped under-tiers influenced by 18th-century Sheraton designs.

These pieces were primarily crafted using solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, combined with hand-cut glass panels, woven fabric or silk internal linings, and brass hardware such as escutcheons and door locks.

Authentic Edwardian furniture usually displays machine-assisted dovetail joints mixed with hand-finishing, delicate glazing bars, stamped brass lock mechanisms, and uniform surface wear consistent with early 20th-century production.

Position the cabinet against a neutral wall to highlight the mahogany wood grain and astragal glass tracery, using the interior shelves to display curated ceramics, glassware, or art books.

Keep the cabinet away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage and fabric fading, dust regularly with a soft lint-free cloth, and apply beeswax sparingly once or twice a year to preserve the polish.
