Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

House-shaped money boxes gained popularity in the 18th and 19th centuries, often given to children to encourage thrift and savings, frequently mimicking domestic architecture of the period.

Traditional construction typically involved native hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, walnut, or fruitwoods, often joined with dovetailed corners and featuring small hand-cut coin slots.

Authenticity is assessed through timber patina, hand-cut joinery methods, period-appropriate fixings, and signs of genuine wear and oxidisation around the coin slot.

This object can be styled as an accent piece on a bookshelf, mantelpiece, or console table, adding historical texture and conversational charm to a contemporary scheme.

Preservation requires keeping the item away from direct sunlight and fluctuating humidity, dusting with a dry microfibre cloth, and occasionally applying microcrystalline wax to protect the finish.
