Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

Edwardian decorative boxes frequently utilised burr walnut veneers combined with intricate floral marquetry, showcasing sophisticated woodworking techniques popular at the turn of the 20th century.

These boxes typically feature a secondary softwood or hardwood carcass covered in finely sliced burr walnut veneer, complemented by contrasting wood inlays for floral motifs and mitred corner joints.

Authenticity is determined by examining the depth and grain of the natural burr veneer, hand-cut marquetry details, traditional hand-cut dovetails or mitres, and the ageing of the internal lining and hardware.

Placed upon a coffee table, bookshelf, or mantelpiece, it serves as a textural element that adds warmth, historical contrast, and discrete storage to contemporary living spaces.

Maintain the wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent veneer cracking, and treat it periodically with microcrystalline wax to nourish the finish.
