Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

This nineteenth-century gentleman's library snuff box comes shaped with subtly curved sides and flat ends. Fabricated from warm brown horn, the rectangular body exhibits an all-over basketweave pattern formed of carved fluted squares accented with metal pique studding, complemented by metal mounts along the top and bottom edges and a small rectangular hinge-like fitting. Close inspection reveals minor surface wear to the horn and a tiny structural loss at the upper right corner next to the metal mount. Measuring 1.5 cm high, 6.8 cm wide, and 3.5 cm deep, this pocket-sized container sits compactly on an office desk or a study bookcase. Displaying this antique piece upon a flat surface provides an appealing decorative accent for contemporary interior schemes. The small scale permits placement inside a display cabinet, upon a decorative tray alongside other trinkets, or directly atop a writing desk as an authentic period desk accessory. Collectors of nineteenth-century hornwork and antique tobacco accessories will find this lidded container a practical addition to an existing cabinet display.

Snuff boxes were compact containers designed to hold finely powdered tobacco for personal inhalation, becoming widespread personal accessories across Europe during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

Craftsmen frequently used organic materials such as polished horn, tortoiseshell, wood, and mother-of-pearl, often embellished with precious metal mounts or intricate pique inlay.

Authentic pieces display natural variations in grain, handmade joinery around the hinges, light signs of historic wear, and a smooth, warm surface feel.

These compact decorative items are ideal for display on an office desk, styled within a glass display cabinet, or arranged on a stack of books.

Keep the object away from direct sunlight, central heating, and high humidity, dusting gently with a clean microfibre cloth and avoiding abrasive chemical cleaners.
