Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A corner chair, also known as a roundabout or writing chair, features a diagonal plan designed to fit neatly into the corner of a room or to be used at a desk. Emerging in the early 18th century, it provided a stable seating option with its four-legged, diagonal construction and wrap-around backrest.

These pieces were typically crafted from solid hardwoods such as mahogany or oak, utilizing traditional joinery methods like mortise and tenon. Carved pierced splats, turned columns, and drop-in upholstered seats secured within the frame were standard features of high-craftsmanship workshops.

Authentication involves examining the timber for age-related patina, tool marks, and oxidisation consistent with hand-working. Inspecting the underside for hand-cut screws, traditional joinery without modern metal fasteners, and signs of historical wear helps verify period manufacture.

This seating can be positioned in a home study as a functional desk chair, placed in an empty corner as an accent piece, or utilized in a living room to introduce historical contrast. Pairing it with a modern minimalist table allows the traditional craftsmanship and dark wood tone to stand out.

Maintain antique wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber splitting and fading. Apply microcrystalline wax periodically to nourish the surface, and avoid using silicone-based polishes or excessive moisture.
