The George III period spans from 1760 to 1820, encompassing various design movements from early Palladianism and Rococo to the neoclassical styles popularised by designers such as Robert Adam, Hepplewhite, and Sheraton.

Furniture from this era was predominantly crafted from native timbers like oak and elm, as well as imported mahogany. Construction typically relied on traditional joinery techniques such as mortise and tenon joints, hand-cut dovetails, and pegged frames.

Authenticity is identified through period-appropriate joinery, hand-carved details, timber patination showing age-related wear, and subtle inconsistencies indicative of hand-tooling rather than modern mass production.

Pairing antique wooden chairs with a contemporary dining table creates a striking contrast that anchors the room with historical character while maintaining a balanced, eclectic aesthetic.

Maintain antique oak by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent wood splitting. Regularly feed the timber with appropriate beeswax and buff gently with a soft cloth to preserve the natural finish.
