A snuff mull is a small container used to hold powdered tobacco, or snuff, which became widely popular across Britain during the 18th and 19th centuries.

Mulls were frequently crafted from natural materials such as rams horns, red deer antlers, and hoofs, often fitted with silver mounts, shields, and hinges.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit period-appropriate hand engraving, genuine patina on the horn, traditional smithing techniques on the silver mounts, and wear consistent with age and handling.

These small tactile objects make excellent cabinet curiosities or desktop items, adding a layer of historic interest when displayed on a bookshelf or within a glass-fronted vitrine.

Horn should be kept away from direct sunlight and extreme heat sources to prevent drying out or cracking, and cleaned gently with a dry microfibre cloth without harsh chemical polishes.
