FAQs

Windsor chairs originated in rural England during the early 18th century, evolving from vernacular furniture-making traditions where spindles were inserted directly into a solid wooden seat.

Authentic chairs typically feature a combination of native timbers such as elm for the carved seat, ash or beech for the bentwood bows and spindles, and fruitwood or oak for the undercarriage legs.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the tool marks, the wedged tenon joints passing through the seat, natural timber shrinkage, and the characteristic patina developed over decades of use.

They provide organic warmth when juxtaposed against a contemporary dining table, or function as standalone accent seating in a minimalist hallway or bedroom.

Maintain the wood by avoiding direct sunlight and excessive heat sources, applying occasional microcrystalline wax, and cleaning gently with a dry or damp lint-free cloth.
