Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Sheraton Revival side cabinet dates from 1880 and takes the form of a dark brown rosewood piece with satinwood marquetry, brass hardware, and glass panels. The construction incorporates a bowed central glazed door flanked by panelled doors, two drawers above, and tapered legs. Fine marquetry urns and floral swags decorate the surfaces, accompanied by line inlays and brass drop handles on the small top drawers. The cabinet measures 100 cm high, 139 cm wide, and 41 cm deep. Positioned in a reception room or dining space, the cabinet provides surface display space alongside enclosed shelving for tableware or books. The slender tapered legs elevate the body from the floor, while the glazed and panelled doors keep contents visible yet protected. The dark timber grain and contrasting light satinwood inlays suit traditional or transitional interior schemes.

FAQs

Sheraton Revival furniture, prominent in the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, features slender rectilinear forms, delicate inlay, floral marquetry, and classical urn motifs inspired by late 18th-century designs.

Cabinetmakers frequently utilised dense dark woods such as rosewood or mahogany as primary veneers, incorporating contrasting satinwood, boxwood, and fruitwoods for intricate marquetry details.

Authentic pieces by Edwards and Roberts often feature a stamped maker mark on door upper edges or drawer linings, alongside high-precision joinery, refined inlay work, and superior materials.

Position the cabinet as a focal point in a dining room, hallway, or living space, balancing its dark timber tones and detailed marquetry with neutral wall colours and minimalist accessories.

Dust surfaces regularly with a dry soft cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly, avoiding chemical sprays and direct sunlight to protect delicate timber veneers.
