Description

An Edwardian Button and Studded Leather Antique Wing Back Arm Chair C1910.

A superbly stylish buttoned and studded, leather fireside-wingback antique chair, circa 1900-1920 with areas of wear and tear to the handsomely worn leather, easily repairable or ready for a part upholstery.

A wonderfully worn, deep seated wingback in a tan leather, studded and buttoned, standing well upon mahogany legs and original castors.

Please note there are some tears to the leather, the upholstery is still otherwise firm in most areas and easily saved with a visit to an upholstery to repair.

Presently available as it is and priced sensibly to reflect, we may end listing and consign to our workshop for some conservation and relist at a higher price, until then available.

A versatile fireside wingback, English antique country house chair for a classic or contemporary space, an interior design piece with considerable decorative appeal.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian wingback chairs developed during the early 20th century, typically featuring high backs designed to shield the sitter from draughts, deep cushioning, and scrolled arms often accented with upholstery tacks.

Authentic period pieces were constructed with solid hardwood frames, traditionally mahogany or beech, hand-tied coil springs, horsehair stuffing, and heavy-grain bovine leather secured with individual brass or bronze studs.

Authenticity is indicated by traditional hand-stitched seams, heavy patination on the leather surface, hand-hammered individual brass tacks rather than staple strips, and period-appropriate wood wear on the legs.

This seating piece works effectively as a statement focal point in a study or living room, paired against neutral walls and modern minimalist furniture to highlight its historical texture and warm tones.

Preserve antique leather by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, applying a professional leather balsam or wax periodically to maintain suppleness, and avoiding harsh chemical cleaners.
