The Chippendale style, originating from Thomas Chippendales cabinet-making designs in the 18th century, is characterised by intricate pierced splat backs, graceful curves, and influences from Gothic, Rococo, and Chinese aesthetics.

Georgian dining chairs were predominantly constructed from dense hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, walnut, and fruitwood like pear or cherry, frequently joined using traditional mortise and tenon techniques.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery such as hand-cut dovetails and pegged joints, genuine age-related patination and wear on touchpoints, and handmade screws or nails rather than modern Phillips-head fasteners.

Pairing antique chairs with a minimalist modern dining table creates a striking juxtaposition that highlights the craftsmanship of the heritage seating while keeping the room feeling light and balanced.

Keep wooden surfaces nourished with microcrystalline wax instead of silicone polishes, protect upholstery from direct sunlight to prevent fading, and vacuum tapestry seats gently using a low-suction attachment.
