Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 19th century Swedish childs armchair follows the Scandinavian Country style. Constructed from pine, the furniture has a warm brown and weathered white painted finish with a heavily distressed surface showing historical wear, old repairs, age splits, and natural shrinkage to the woodwork. The piece stands on straight mortise legs connected by a simple stretcher and has flat armrests extending down to the seat frame. The armchair measures 83.8 cm high, 48.2 cm wide, and 47 cm deep. Suitable for light use in domestic interiors, this rustic farmhouse item serves as a decorative display piece or seating in a hallway, bedroom, or living area. The sturdy rural design brings traditional Nordic character to contemporary spaces while maintaining its original historical charm and authentic patination.

FAQs

Early nineteenth-century Swedish provincial furniture is defined by practical woodworking techniques, functional forms, and hand-applied painted finishes, often created for rural households.

Craftsmen typically utilised locally sourced softwoods such as pine and birch, joined with wooden pegs and finished with natural pigment paints.

Authentic pieces feature genuine joinery wear, hand-planed timber surfaces, and natural paint layer degradation showing timber exposure at wear points.

This type of seating serves as an accent piece in hallways, living areas, or nurseries, often styled to hold decorative textiles or books.

Clean painted pine gently with a dry microfibre cloth, keeping it away from direct heat sources and excessive moisture to prevent paint flaking.
