Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Regency furniture, spanning roughly from 1811 to 1820, drew heavily from neoclassical, Greek, Roman, and Egyptian influences, characterised by clean classical proportions, dark woods like mahogany, and delicate carved or brass inlay details.

Cabinet makers predominantly used solid and veneered mahogany, frequently employing mortise and tenon joinery, hand-carved floral or classical motifs, turned or reeded legs, and traditional horsehair or webbing upholstery foundations.

Authenticity is determined by examining timber age, patination, hand-cut joinery, old screw types, and construction methods consistent with early 19th-century workshop practices, as well as looking for maker signatures or stamps where applicable.

Pairing a dark wood antique chair with contemporary minimalist desks or placing it as a singular accent piece in a neutral room creates a sophisticated contrast that highlights its historical craftsmanship.

Maintain wood moisture by avoiding direct sunlight and heat sources, clean surfaces with a soft, dry lint-free cloth, and periodically nourish the timber with quality beeswax while protecting vintage upholstery from moisture and heavy friction.
