Edwardian furniture often drew inspiration from earlier periods such as Georgian and Sheraton revivals, incorporating lighter proportions, delicate carvings, and refined woodwork compared to heavy Victorian designs.

These pieces typically utilized solid mahogany frames combined with mortise and tenon joinery, often upholstered with traditional horsehair stuffing and needlepoint tapestry covers.

Authenticity is determined by examining hand-cut joinery, timber ageing characteristics such as oxidisation and patina, traditional hand-carved details, and historical upholstery construction methods.

Pairing antique wooden seating with a minimalist contemporary dining table creates a striking contrast that highlights the craftsmanship while maintaining a balanced, eclectic aesthetic.

Protect the wood from direct sunlight and fluctuating humidity using breathable beeswax, and gently vacuum upholstered needlepoint sections with a soft brush attachment.
