We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Smokers bow chairs, often regarded as a low-back variant of the traditional Windsor chair, emerged in the 19th century and were commonly found in public houses, smoking rooms, and farmhouses across England.

These chairs typically feature a combination of native timbers, utilising resilient elm for the sculpted solid seats to prevent splitting, and turned oak or ash for the spindles, legs, and bentwood bows.

Authentic period pieces display traditional joinery such as wedge-tenon joints, hand-turned spindles with subtle variations, wear patterns consistent with age, and the deep patination characteristic of aged timbers.

This seating style integrates well into various interior schemes, functioning effectively as a desk chair in a study, paired with a rustic dining table, or as a standalone accent piece in a living space.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent timber drying, and occasionally applying traditional beesure wax to nourish the grain without sealing the surface.
