Howard and Sons, established in London during the nineteenth century, became renowned for their exceptionally comfortable, deep-sprung upholstered furniture and meticulous craftsmanship.

These chairs typically feature a sturdy beech frame, complex coiled steel spring systems, horsehair stuffing, and traditional hand-stitched upholstery.

Authenticity is usually confirmed by stamped brass castors, serial numbers marked on the legs or frame, and traditional paper or woven makers labels.

Position the armchair as a statement reading seat in a study or living room, pairing it with neutral walls to highlight its heritage silhouette.

Vacuum gently with a soft brush attachment, protect from direct sunlight to prevent fabric degradation, and consult a professional textile conservator for deep cleaning.
