A fine George III satinwood elbow chair in the manner of Thomas Sheraton, the toprail with a rectangular entablature painted with swags of roses, over a broad pierced splat painted with Prince of Wales feathers and swags of drapery over a central floral motif, with twin slender baluster uprights painted with acanthus leaves and with cream painted highlights, and with scrolling arms with trailing roses to baluster supports painted with acanthus leaves around a generous seat over rails painted with trailing roses and spandrels to the tops if the turned tapering supports with cream painted rings and on turned feet. Upholstered with a pale blue fabric embroidered with flowers, birds and butterflies. English, circa 1790.
Condition: Overall very good, the chair is in excellent condition structurally and is comfortable to sit on, the material is in excellent condition with no marks or stains. There has been some wear to the paint on the arms, commensurate with the age of the chair but that... aside the paint is in very good condition.
